Chapter 2, Page 28

Just takin’ a stroll

I’m sorry about the relative slowness of posts lately! I made an explanation post here if you’re curious. We’re actually still on schedule (Chapter 2 ends with the end of the year!!), but my updates haven’t been super on time as of late… this will probably be fine after this week but I apologize for the lag.

Anyhow, there will be some Patreon post stuff coming up soon, including the MI wallpaper this month :] And, if you commissioned me last month, you’ll be getting your art very soon! I have one more holiday irl commission slot open I think, with an early December fulfillment for gifting, if any of you are interested.

And, to all US readers, hope you have a great Thanksgiving <3 I am so thankful to all of you for continuing to read and I'm ridiculously excited to take a stroll down to the beach with you...

    Aw, he’s concerned!

  • Dude did you seriously ask your invasive parasite if it was OK ? ^^;

    • Either way, that confirm it was indeed helping him breathe properly.

      • Piotr

crazy theory from pages and pages ago confirmed? I’m waiting until the official confirmation though.

maybe it’s just pumping him full of some good old fashioned thighfish cough suppressant… NightmareQuil

        • Sure, we’ll have him checked up by official scientists when he gets back up :D
          (if he does)

      • LameFox

Maybe he’s just coughing up spores.

    • Madeleine

I’m not sure if a *dead* parasite hanging in your system is so much better than a living one …

      • shingworks

I was about to link some pictures but then I decided to be a kind person and not link some pictures.

        • imcitcat

          thank you for not linking the pictures O.O;;

    • Mal-L

Well flappy did fix his leg.

  • DatDat

    Take thighfish to the river~
    Drop ’em in the water~

Time for a nice swim. Yes, please!

  • Jojo

If my experience with red tide is at all comparable I don’t know if swimming in an alien bio-luminescent tide is an exceptionally good idea.

  • Lorenzo

Are those little martian animals taking a bath in the lake?
What’s up with bioluminescence in this planet!
    IS THAT A TREE?!

  • Thighfish is just sleeping D:

  • Draug

Concern is the first step towards accepting your thighfish friend.

  • Arianwen
    • shingworks

Haha, it’s a coincidence XD Those are not thrips calling their own name

    • Paula

      pokemon planet

  • ubernostrum

So what is growing on the side of Mike’s head? It wasnt there when he was climbing the crack and it seems to have gotten a lot bigger in the past 2 pages.

  • Corbie

Dammit, without thighfriend he has problems with the sulfuric air, so it seems. No more freeclimbing.

I wonder what that … thingie is. Looks like the remains of a huge coral stalk or something, not like a flowstone.

Or he’s on top of a giant anglerfish.

  • Aaah look at all that cool geology! :D

  • Ceceoh

Is there a creature there that calls “thrip”, or is this the onomatopoeic Martian equivalent of “drip”. (Also, very glad to hear you are better, Der-Shing.)

    • shingworks

      It’s a vocalization :D

  • Jay

What a relief to have answers about your health (for you, I mean. It’s none of our business to know and kind of you to share with your readers, although I’m glad you’re getting better). Having undiagnosed pain is so terrible. I’m glad you’re on the mend. Take care!

    • shingworks

Thanks! It’s kind of a temporary diagnosis for now, haha, since the symptoms disappeared after I did the thing the dr suggested. So far so good but if the pain comes back then I’ll probably have to eat my words, but I’m hoping I won’t have to do that :D *sweats*

      • sweet_gardenia

you should get a thighfriend I bet they will help you keep hella healthy. Glad to hear things are going well so far I hope they continue to do so!

  • JJ

Is he looking at a new part of the cave? Or has the water level changed while he slept / zoned out / hallucinated / killed thighfriend in his sleep?

    • shingworks

He would never kill thighfriend ;__; I hope

And no, that’s the left side of the hillock or whatever he’s on, that you can see on the spread pages that he’s in the lower left corner of the page. He climbed to the top of the hill to pass out, and is now headed down to a beach that was previously out of view to the reader.

  • Lar

I can’t wait until I can donate to you on Patreon. 1, I love both these comics. 2, I really want to get to that monthly tutorial goal.

  • charles81

I just realised there’s more of that slightly glowy red stuff which was around him when he woke up last time. Looks like it started gathering around him the moment he fell asleep or unconscious 2 pages back… Has me worried that EVERYTHING else is blue in contrast.

All bugs gone, thighfriend dead or dying…

  • sweet_gardenia

Thripfriends? Gosh that background’s gorgeous ung <3

THIGHFRIEND LITTLE BUDDY ARE YOU OK hang in there oh gods…no pun intended

  • imcitcat

    I’m glad you’re feeling better!
    Super glad it’s temporary!
EXTRA SUPER GLAD it’s not permanent lupus!! :D
I’ve missed the updates but psh gurl you get yoself healthy

and oh noes he’s coughing D:

  • Unclever title

Seem’s like he’s actually grown attached to thighfriend.

    • Echo

Well of course, they’re practically attached at the hip—er, thigh.

  • Lukas

There’s something about this that reminds me of the old Another World game. I think it’s a combination of the color palette and the whole “weird, alien creatures” thing.

  • I bet the poor little thing needs water. Hang in there, thigh friend!! I hope it’s not the end for the…. the whatever it is.

  • tehbeefer

Hey, I just wanted to chime in and mention that I really like how the exobiology is portrayed in an actually alien/foreign-yet-familar fashion without just resorting to simple mashups of different vertebrates, geometric shapes, or puddles of goo.
